Smokey Spicy Sweet Potato Fries

Like the heat? Go with a teaspoon of chipotle chili powder. Like it a bit milder? Stick with 1/2 teaspoon. Serve with yogurt dip or ketchup. Prep time: 10 minutes Cook time: 30 to 35 minutes



  • 2 pounds (8 medium) Bako Sweet® Sweet Potatoes*, cut into 1/4 to 1/2-inch strips
  • 1/4 extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons garlic salt
  • 1/2 to 1 teaspoon chipotle chili powder
  • Snipped green onion tops or chives

Chipotle Yogurt Dip:

  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 teaspoons minced chipotle peppers plus additional adobo sauce from can
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic salt


  1. Preheat oven to 450°F.
  2. Place sweet potato strips in a large bowl and drizzle with oil. Toss well to coat.
  3. Stir together seasonings in a small bowl and sprinkle over potatoes; toss well to coat as evenly as possible.
  4. Place in a single layer on baking sheets and bake for 30 minutes or until nicely browned, stirring every 10 minutes.
  5. While potatoes are cooking, stir together yogurt, chipotle peppers and garlic salt in a small bowl.
  6. Serve with warm sweet potatoes.

Recipe tip:Line baking sheets with foil or parchment paper for easy clean up
